Excursion to Mount Teide with children

Below are details about booking an excursion to Mount Teide with children and information is provided about the minimum age for each. Shall we get started?

We’ve divided each excursion to Mount Teide with children into activities that include a guided tour of Teide Observatory, and excursions that use the cable car to ascend to La Rambleta at an altitude of 3,555 m.

And don’t forget, all the excursions detailed here include return transport from your accommodation on board a comfortable vehicle for small groups so you can share a fascinating trip across the island with your children.

Booking a Mount Teide family excursion is a wonderful activity that helps to protect the National Park by preventing the traffic jams caused by the small number of available parking spaces, thereby contributing to a sustainable Mount Teide.

Family excursions to Mount Teide—cable car included

There are two day excursions available: each excursion to Mount Teide with children includes a fascinating cable car ride up the slopes of Mount Teide. It lasts 8 minutes and takes you from the base station at an altitude of 2,356 m up to the upper station at 3,555 m, also known as La Rambleta, the departure point for your chosen activity.

Ascent to the Peak (6+ years old)

This excursion is very special because it’s the only excursion to Mount Teide with children that takes you all the way to the peak of Mount Teide, the highest point in Spain, accompanied by an official guide. And did you know that Mount Teide is the third highest volcano in the world, measured from the ocean floor?

Alt: Mount Teide family excursions with cable car tickets

The high altitude of Mount Teide is the reason why this Mount Teide family excursion is only suitable for children who are 6 years old and above. There is far less oxygen at the volcano’s peak and this can be a big challenge for younger children.

This excursion to Mount Teide with children includes cable car tickets at a time that perfectly matches the time of your permit, and also saves you the hassle of having to obtain a permit yourself.

In case you didn’t know, to visit Mount Teide’s crater you need a special permit issued by the National Parks website

If you don’t request a permit several months in advance, there probably won’t be one available. Instead, on this excursion to Mount Teide with children well take charge of getting the permits for you, for both children and adults, because part of the permits that are issued each day are reserved for official guides and we work with these guides.

And what will you get up to on your Mount Teide family excursion to the National Park? You’ll be joined by one of our guides who will share fascinating information with you about the surprising and unusual Telesforo Bravo trail that runs from La Rambleta to the crater. And at the top, one of the best views on the planet will be waiting for you with the endless expanse of the Atlantic Ocean at your feet.
