Since it is a protected area, you have to plan your visit ahead of time. Visit the Tenerife ON website and reserve your permit. You can also hire different guided services offered by Volcano Life Experience.
You can reach the crater walking from Montaña Blanca or by using the Cable Car. Either way, do not forget to bring your permit from the National Park, a guard will ask for it at the entrance to the Telesforo Bravo trail.
